Newport inflicted Plymouth's first defeat of the season on Saturday so they are no mugs.
If Roberto plays, I fully expect defeat.

I went to that game in 1979 . Yes we had a decent side out that night but lost to lesser opposition as we normally did.
Not a great memory but at leased you could train back home midweek in those days.

Shirley Bassey, she's just like the Queen
Not from Newport, and probably never been

But you won't know because the truth is...

You're not from Newport
You've probably never been there either,

Your not from Newport
You've probably never heard of Pillgwennly,
Or been to Lliswerry

Your missus is a nutter
She's got curly teeth and she walks with a stutter
If you wanna know, about our little town
Pay money at the Severn Bridge and come on down

Oh what will you give me?
Say the sad bells of Rhymney
Is there hope for the future?
Say the brown bells of Merthyr
Who made the mine owner?
Say the black bells of Rhondda
And who killed the miner?
Say the grim bells of Blaina

Throw the vandals in court
Say the bells of NEWPORT
All will be well if, if, if, if, if
Say the green bells of Cardiff
Why so worried sisters? Why?
Sang the silver bells of Wye
And what will you give me?
Say the sad bells of Rhymney

Cracking song that:

The draw sent a shudder down my spine. In HM RN at the time at sea. Listened to the game on BBC Radio.
We had a strong side out and in the finest of West Ham traditions, were embarrassed by distinctly ordinary opposition.

Newport County 2-1 West Ham
FA Cup round 3 1978-79
Somerton Park 14,124
(4th Division v. 2nd Division)

1 Mervyn Day
2 Frank Lampard
3 Paul Brush

5 Alvin Martin
6 John McDowell

Nobes, Antonio, Snodgrass, Zabs, Reid. We've got enough experience there to see us through on a cold, wet night. But this is West Ham...

Re: WHO do we want in the Cup?
The last time we played Newport was 9th January 1979 in the FA Cup. Our team included Martin, Bonds, Lampard, Brooking, Devonshire, Cross and Pop Robson. We lost 2-1.

We did go on to win the FA Cup the next year though.

Re: WHO do we want in the Cup?
My home town - they put temporary stands in for the Spurs cup game a couple of years ago - Spurs apparently waived their share of the gate receipts as their ticket allocation was increased.

So there's no chance of G&S doing that so the WHU allocation will be about 1100
